چکیده
The decomposition of nonlinear output feedback control into an observer and a state feedback control is an open problem. A solution for dynamic positioning of ships has been proposed in 1] and 2], where an observer-based back-stepping method is used. This note points out that the observer design in 1] and 2] does not cover unstable ship dynamics and suggests a remedy for an extended class of ships. The proof for the nonlinear observer used in the design in 1] and 2] only applies to ships with stable sway-yaw dynamics. In 1] and 2] an example concerning thruster assisted mooring of a tanker is given, which does not fullll the needed stability properties, so an extension to this case is highly motivated. We propose a method to extend the results, under a de-tectability condition. This condition implies stable surge dynamics, which is a natural assumption for ships.

Design and Implementation of Discrete Time Observer Based Backstepping Controller for a 2DOF Servomechanism
The two degrees of freedom servomechanism has many applications, including in gimbaled seekers. These mechanisms require closed-loop control to perform properly. In this paper, an observer-based multi-input-multi-output hybrid controller is designed for a two-degree-of-freedom servomechanism. Since in the model presented in this paper, disturbances on the mechanism are considered, so an extende...

This paper considers the problem of adaptive output feedback tracking control for a class of nonstrict-feedback nonlinear systems with unknown time-varying delays and unknown backlash-like hysteresis. Fuzzy logic systems are used to estimate the unknown nonlinear functions. Based on the Lyapunov–Krasovskii method, the control scheme is constructed by using the backstepping and adaptive techniqu...

This paper addresses the analysis, design, and application of observer-based nonlinear controls by combining feedback linearization (FBL) and backstepping (BS) techniques with Luenberger observers. Complete development of observer-based controls is presented for a bioprocess. Controllers using input-output feedback linearization and backstepping techniques are designed first, assuming that all ...

In this paper, an adaptive fuzzy backstepping output feedback control approach is proposed for a class of strict-feedback stochastic nonlinear systems with time delays and immeasurable states. Fuzzy logic systems are firstly utilized to approximate the unknown nonlinear functions, and then a fuzzy state observer is designed to estimate the immeasurable states. By combining the fuzzy adaptive co...
